The Department of Veterans Affairs
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides health care services, benefits programs and access to national cemeteries to former military service members and their dependents. The department carries out its duties through three main administrative divisions: the Veterans Benefits Administration; the Veterans Health Administration; and the National Cemetery Administration. VA also provides authorization to certain individuals to assist veterans and their survivors with applications for benefits and for representation with appeals. This is called "accreditation."
